Incident Management

What does incident management mean?

The term incident management describes the process of detecting, handling and resolving a security incident or operational disruption. This involves various things, such as errors in the IT structure or external attacks (cybersecurity) and, with regard to data protection law, primarily dealing with or preparing for data breaches and, if necessary, reporting them (Art. 33, 34 GDPR).

Practical example

A company uses incident management to protect personal data from unauthorized access through technical and organizational measures.
