What does Telecommunications secrecy?
The Telecommunications secrecy is, together with the secrecy of correspondence and mail, protected by the constitution under Article 10 of the Basic Law. The Telecommunications secrecy protects the right of the individual vis-à-vis the state to shield non-public communication in order to enable the unobserved exchange and transmission of facts, opinions and thoughts. It is protected by law in particular by Section 206 of the German Criminal Code (StGB), which sanctions the violation of postal or telecommunications secrecy.
