Works Council

What does Works Council?

A Works Council is the employee representation in non-public institutions, i.e. in companies. The staff council is the counterpart to this in public authorities and other public institutions. The rights and duties of the works council are regulated in the BetrVG. It ensures that collective agreements, regulations, laws and company agreements are adhered to. It also has a say in many matters, such as the dismissal of an employee.
