What does Federal Constitutional Court?

The Federal Constitutional Court has its seat in Karlsruhe and fulfills a dual function. As the Federal Constitutional Court, it is an independent constitutional body of the judiciary, equal in rank to the other supreme federal bodies (e.g. Bundestag, Bundesrat, Federal President) and at the same time the supreme court at federal level.

Practical example

The Federal Constitutional Court monitors compliance with data protection and can impose fines or order measures in the event of violations.
