Legitimate interests
What does Legitimate interests?
Any Processing of personal data must be based on a legal basis (Art. 5 para. 1 lit. a) GDPR). The legal basis may include the legitimate interests of the controller (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f) GDPR); public authorities may not rely on this for data processing carried out in the performance of their tasks (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 2 GDPR). For example, data processing for the purposes of fraud prevention or direct marketing may be based on legitimate interests (recital 47, sentences 6, 7 GDPR).
Practical example
With the Processing of data, the company takes into account the principle of Legitimate interestsby collecting only necessary data and providing transparent information about its use.
