Consent Management Tool

What does Consent Management Tool?

Consent management tools (from the English term "consent") or, more colloquially, cookie banners or cookie layers are integrated into websites in order to Consent of the website visitors. This is necessary, for example, if Cookies that are not (technically) necessary to provide the basic service expressly requested by the user. This is both regulated in the TDDDG (Section 25) and stipulated by the so-called "Planet49" ruling of the ECJ of October 1, 2019 (Ref. C_673/17). These requirements do not only apply to Cookiesbut also for similar web technologies, such as browser fingerprinting, localStorage, web beacons, etc.

Practical example

Before the Processing certain data, the company collects the Consent Management Tool of the data subject, for example via a cookie banner on the website.
